Species Description
Yucca carolina is a stately, tufted plant. It is characterized by evergreen, stiffly protruding leaves 30-70 cm long. They are elongated, lanceolate, and pointed, depending on the variety, bluish-green or green with a creamy-yellow stripe along the edges, or within the leaf blade, with numerous filaments along the edges. The pendulous, yellowish-white, fragrant, bell-shaped flowers, 5-7 cm long, are gathered in impressive, erect panicles on strong stems. During the flowering period, the plant reaches a height of 120-200 cm. The plant blooms from July to August. It is suitable for naturalistic gardens, looking great in borders with succulents or grasses, as well as individually in lawns. It can also be used as a turf cover. Yucca requires permeable, dry, well-drained soil, containing calcium. It grows best in sunny, sheltered locations. It responds to fertilization by flowering more profusely.

Juka karolińska to okazała, kępiasta roślina. Charakteryzuje się zimozielonymi, sztywno odstającymi liśćmi długości 30-70 cm. Są one wydłużone, lancetowate, spiczaste, w zależności od odmiany niebieskawo-zielone lub zielone z kremowo-żółtymi pasem na brzegach, względnie wewnątrz blaszki liściowej, z licznymi nitkami na brzegach. Zwisające, żółtawo-białe, pachnące, dzwonkowate kwiaty, długości 5-7 cm, zebrane są w okazałe, wyprostowane wiechy, osadzone na silnych pędach. W okresie kwitnienia roślina osiąga wysokość 120-200 cm. Roślina kwitnie od lipca do sierpnia. Nadaje się do ogrodów naturalistycznych, świetnie prezentuje się na rabatach z sukulentami lub trawami, jak również pojedynczo na trawnikach. Można ją wykorzystywać również do zadarniania powierzchni. Juka wymaga gleby przepuszczalnej, suchej, dobrze zdrenowanej, zawierającej wapń. Najlepiej rośnie na stanowiskach słonecznych, osłoniętych. Na nawożenie reaguje obfitszym kwitnieniem.
